I wasn’t expecting to have an Austin Omni Barton Creek wedding in September, but it happened. Blair and Will were suppose to get married at Cinnamon Shore in Port Aransas in late September. A month before their wedding Hurricane Harvey hit the coastal bend and took out Port Aransas. Having 200 guests come in from all over the country was not an option anymore. Without missing a beat the couple assessed their options and decided to move their wedding to Austin, where they live. Their ceremony took place at the beautiful Church of the Good Shepherd and their reception was in the Glass Pavillion at Omni Barton Creek. This was actually the last event (to my knowledge) to take place in the Glass Pavillion, as they are tearing it down and rebuilding. Demolition was postponed because of the hurricane so Omni was gracious enough to let Blair and Will use it for their wedding reception. The weather was perfect and the ambiance in the Glass Pavillion was beautiful. Blue and white and green and lots of candle light. Everyone had a great time with the band too, The Night Owls, who put on a great show and keep the dance floor packed the entire night. For me, it was fun to be shooting at two of the venues I used to shoot in regularly when I lived in Austin and was just starting my career as a wedding photographer. Thank you to all of the vendors, especially the coordinator, and the bride and groom, for being flexible and fun when life throws you a curve ball!
